Sunday 1st October at 1pm
Ten of Australia’s top tango musicians come together to create an Australian first! Four bandoneón. (the rare instrument of the Argentine tango), four strings, double bass, piano and vocals will grace the stage at Avoca Beach Picture Theatre to create the formidable sound of a full ‘Orquesta Típica’.
Joining them will be Argentine Maestro dancers Maximilliano Cristiani (Argentine tango champion) & Karina Colmeiro direct from Buenos Aires. This will be an experience not to be missed.
The orchestra will be led by master arranger Owen Salomé, along with director Emily-Rose Sarkova of Sydney based ensemble ‘Tángalo’. Tángalo is the first Australian ensemble to tour and study in Buenos Aires as part of the ‘JUMP’ grant in 2014.
They have subsequently toured Australia with Latin Grammy nominated ‘Duo Ramirez Satorre’, as well as collaborating with international musicians Fabian Rodriguez and Nestor Vaz, playing in festivals and concert halls across Australia.
Members from Tángalo will be joined by core members of the incredible Brisbane based Mendoza Tango Quartet and Sydney based Orquesta la Luna. ival
