Greek Night with the movie Roza Of Smyrna at Avoca Beach Picture Theatre

Our first Greek night ever begins with Greek finger food and wine before Greek music, expressing the very real feelings of everyday Greek life.

Emily-Rose Sarkova’s Trio brings accordian, resonator, base and voice to open to us the world of much loved traditional Greek folk music.

In the times of the Ottoman Empire, there was no Greece, no Turkey; it was just the Ottoman Empire.  When it collapsed, Greek’s living in Turkey and Turks living in Greece were removed from their homes – swapped back, some would say. This is where we find Roza and Ishmael, a modern day Romeo and Juliet story, in the Greek Box Office smash hit ROZA OF SMYRNA.

The enigmatic old woman Roza from Izmir and the powerful Ishmael live for decades with the weight of a well-kept secret.  When avid collector Dimitris stumbles upon an old wedding dress in an antique store in Smyrna, it sets off a chain reaction. The discovery of an old photo and letter heighten the mystery. What will Roza and Ishmael do?

Greeks love life, love, people and music!

A perfect combination for a vibrant night of Greece!
